Getting to Tel Aviv
You are unlikely to be driving here from Syria or Lebanon. If you wish to enter via Jordan or Egypt please see Google Maps
But likely, you will be flying in, so let's start with
Getting to Tel Aviv (and the Museum) from the Airport.
The most likely (and closest) airport would be Ben Gurion Airport. The cheapest, and fastest (during traffic - fastest by far), way to get from the airport to Tel Aviv is by Train. Simply get out of the terminal hall at the same level you exited, and immediately turn left before crossing any roads, the train station will be ~ 20 meters in front of you, with either a cashier or machines to sell you tickets. Get the ticket and use it to enter the gates, then go one level down. Trains will go towards Tel Aviv or further north (Haifa, Naharia). There are four stops in Tel Aviv, of which the university stop is last (furthest north). A trip to the university station should take 27 minutes and cost 13.5 shekels. From the University station you can walk up the hill (or take a bus) to the museum - see below.
Funnily enough there are no buses directly connecting Tel Aviv and the airport, although several buses go from the airport to the nearby 'El-Al junction' (see here), from which you can catch another bus to Tel Aviv's central bus station. A train is still likely to be faster and more convenient.
Another option is taxi. Simply get out of the terminal hall at the same level you exited, and immediately turn left before crossing any roads. There should be a line of approved taxis (right next to the train station). A trip to Tel Aviv should cost ~140 Shekels during the day and ~160 during the night (one person, one suitcase, expect to pay ~5 shekels extra per person or suitcase). There are airport authority personnel near the queue who can give you more details, and also digitized stands that can give you a price estimate based on destination, time of day, numbers of people and amount of luggage (see www.iaa.gov.il/en-us/airports/bengurion/pages/taxifarecalculator.aspx).
If you are landing during the weekend, please note that buses and trains in Israel do not run from Friday afternoon until Saturday evening! If you are arriving between Friday at noon and Sunday at 05:00 or so your only option is a taxi - or alert us - we will do a few airport runs during this time, if you tell us exactly when you are arriving (date, time, where you are coming from and the airline please).
Getting to the university and museum (=conference venue) directly from the airport
A taxi will get you here of course.
If you rent a car follow the signs to Tel Aviv, you will merge into the Ayalon Freeway (road #20) heading north, get out at the Rokach Interchange and at the traffic light (T-junction) turn LEFT. after ~100m you go under a bridge and turn RIGHT, then Straight at the traffic lights
up the hill, straight (=half right) through the first roundabout and straight (=half right) through the second roundabout, you are on Klausner street and the museum (and its parking) will be 200 meters further north, on your right.
Walking from the university train station to the museum
Take the train from the airport (see above for instructions for taking the train at the airport).
You need the fourth and last of the Tel Aviv stations, conveniently called "Tel Aviv Universita".
Get off the train then get down from the platform, out of where you need to use your ticket to exit the gates, turn left (basically going under the Ayalon freeway - yellow on the map, and heading westwards, the train was going northwards when you got off) and up via the escalators.
From the station you can walk uphill to the university which will take ~15-20 minutes.
There are also buses that leave towards the university from the station (buses #45, 7 and 289 leave every 10 minutes or so, for a 5 minute ride)
You will exit and see stairs about 50 meters ahead - climb them (11 flights of 6-7 stairs) or take the number 45 or 7 bus which will be just on your left.
If you walk than just carry on heading north with the valley and freeway on your right. When a large, ugly building (Porter School of the Environment) will loom go past it and the wall of the Zoo will be on your right, carry on for another 150 meters or so and the Steinhardt museum will be on your right.
If you take the 7 or 45 bus the Steinhardt will be your 2nd (or third?) stop.
