Two books on the reptiles of Israel were published recently
One, by Yehudah Werner, was published in 2016 by Chimaira (http://www.chimaira.de/gp/reptile-life-in-the-land-of-israel.html?___store=english&___from_store=english). We will, unfortunately, have no copies for sale at the conference, but if you like to browse one you could ask and we will bring it (in a small truck, it is MASSIVE).
A very nice field guide was recently published by Guy Haimovitch and Aviad Bar, in English (paperback) and Hebrew (hardcover, 2nd edition just came out; see bottom picture).
Aviad has kindly agreed to make copies available for sale at the conference, at a cost price of 70 shekels (~17 euro, 20 US$).
The English edition, unfortunately, has nearly run out, so if you are interested (in either edition) please let as know at [email protected]
A somewhat older (2001) book was written by Amos Bouskila and Pini Amitai, and Amos may have some available. This one is in Hebrew only.
Beyond that you need to go to the 1984 reptile and amphibian part of the encyclopedia for animals and plants in Israel by Avi Arbel. This one too is in Hebrew only.
even older (Hebrew only) is the 1956 key by Barash and Hoofien
and then you really need to stretch all the way to the 1864 book of the Flora and Fauna of Palestine by Tristram that contains some facts, and quite a bit of fiction (no one has found an amphisbaenian here either before or since, for example; not even in archaeological digs), but it is in English.
The first Hebrew text we know of (if you ignore the very little herpetology in the bible, obviously an inadequate source for herpetological knowledge) can be found here
